THE CAT WHO HATED BIRD
by Jay Chesters

The world is ending. Daisy and her girlfriend El are scrambling to pack before they go to their doomsday bunker, but there's one problem. Daisy can't find her cat, Miles. He's escaped his carrier. But as the seconds count down, El reveals she hasn't been completely honest with Daisy, making her question the meaning of love and life itself.

About the author
Jay writes unusual contemporary fiction, weaving together folklore and science fiction with fantasy, horror, and social commentary. Mostly intentionally. After 20 years of living in a dozen different cities across three continents, Jay now lives on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Perth, Western Australia) with his wife and two boisterous cats.
When he’s not working, Jay is usually found in the wild in Perth’s bookshops, cafes, and coffee shops, writing and making the place look untidy. When he’s not writing, Jay generally frets about how he should be writing.

Jay really should be working on the difficult follow-up to his debut book, Year of the Bear. Fortunately, he has other works appearing in collections from Night Parrot Press and online in various places.
